Riley and I met on Lavalife back in Sept 2007 and only chatted online for about week before we decided it would be better to hear eachother's voices and talk on the phone instead. A month went by and we decided to go out on our first date. Now this is where there some discrepency.....maybe you can be the judge? We decided to meet up for drinks at Woody's Taphouse way down in southwest Calgary on a Wednesday night. We had a few drinks, had a great night and decided to do it again a few days later. Now in my mind, that was our first date....however in Riley's mind that was just when we "met" and that our next date was a few days later. I don't really know who had it right here, but regardless, that is how our relationship started.
A year later we were discussing the option of moving in together when we came across an acreage just outside of Didsbury for sale. We had no intentions in buying anything at that time, but went to go see it to get a better idea of what these properties were worth. Never did we think, three weeks later, we would be putting in an offer on this property. On December 16, 2008 we moved into our first home together and have been loving it ever since. The renovations and yard work, and most of the free time we have, goes into this house. However we wouldnt change it for the world. Riley has put so much time and work into this property, and its really starting to take shape.
In late November 2009, Logan had expressed how much he really wanted to start calling Riley "Dad". In Logan's mind he had a Dad and a "Mom"at his Father's house so he wanted a Mom and a "Dad" at our house too, and with that, Riley became logan's other "Dad". It made my heart ache the first time I heard Logan call Riley "Dad" and when RIley answered him. This meant so much not only to Logan, but to me as well.
My son, our son, loves Riley so much and it only made me love my two guys even more then I thought was even possible.
On May 3, 2010 at around 7:00pm - thats when everything changed. While snuggling in bed, not a care in the world, Riley told me how much he loved me and how much he appreciated what I do for him. I thought this was just another one of those indepth moments we have every now and again, where we remind eachother how much we mean to the other person. I was right but had no idea what was coming next. While he was talking he reached under his pillow and removed the stowed little box. All at the same time, he open the perfect little black box and asked me if I would marry him. I dont really know if I said Yes right away, bc all I remember saying over and over again was "really". But IM sure somewhere in there I finally said yes. So with some tears in both of our eyes, I said YES. It was perfect, and actually exactly how I always wanted to be proposed too - in his loving embrace..... and the rest is history.

With the Carribean Ocean as our backdrop, the sand between our toes and the cool ocean breeze flowing through our hair; the stage has been set and we are elated to be celebrating such an important moment in our lives with all of you. Having our family and friends at the forefront of such an important day, will forever be in our hearts and memories.
Your presence is requested on the sandy beach of Sandos Playacar at 4:00pm on Thursday January 26, 2012(not confirmed yet) . Champagne and sparkling beverages along with a few toasts will follow the ceremony, where you will have that chance to relax and mingle while the Bride and Groom complete their photos.
Our wedding is a direct reflection of who we are as a couple, therefore, as much as this day means to us, we have chosen to keep things simple and informal. We would ask that the ladies come dressed in simple summer dresses and the men in casual pants and a nice shirt. Remember this is Mexico, where the temperature will normally be about 28 degrees at this time in the day, so plan to wear something you will be comfortable in. Please......no shorts, bathing suits or jeans. |
Travel Arrangments can be made through our travel agent if you like to get a group rate. For those of you departing out of detroit - it has been suggested that you book your rooms with us, but that you book your flights seperately as you will get a better deal. Our travel agent can do this for you as well if you like.
The "Save the Dates" were sent out in July 2010 to allow everyone enough time to save as the deposits are required exactly a year from when you rec'd the cards in the mail.

We are so excited to be proclaiming our love to eachother in front of all of you, at the beautiful Sandos Playcar Beach Resort and Spa. This day would not be the same without all of you there celebrating with us, drinking with us, and down right partying with us.
